Narrative
Charles, a retiree, gets a new lease on life when he answers an ad from a private detective and becomes a mole in an undercover investigation at a nursing home
Michael Schur was inspired to create "A Man On the Inside" after watching the Chilean documentary "The Mole Agent", he says: "The Mole Agent" the documentary is powerful because it makes people feel something remarkably similar regardless of age, ethnicity or gender, and I would describe this feeling in a very reductive way as: «I have to call my mom.» In our show, we tried to do a similar thing with the tone: Does our show basically contribute to that feeling of wanting to call our moms?.
I loved it!
Remake of El agente topo (2020).
What I expected was a comedy full of clichés about someone who goes undercover, his crazy antics & so on
Instead we get a series about a man who not only helped others but actually helped himself heal from the loss of his wife.
This great series wasn’t full of corny laughs & corny lines, I found myself getting really emotional in parts due to the way the themes were handled – like the resident with memory problems
It wasn’t so serious though that you felt down or bored as you went through the episodes, but the series was worth watching because you wanted to see how it turned out – who was stealing etc.
The cast was great, the cinematography & locations nicely done
I really hope they do another season & bring a great mix of laughs, emotions, script, location & cast like they did in Charles’ next detective style adventure like this one.
